I’ve always wanted to do this with the boys to see how they viewed themselves. It was also a great opportunity to teach them new ways of drawing the different parts of the face.
We began by painting the background. I just gave them watercolors and a big fat brush and let them make their own designs.

Let the background dry completely before starting the self portraits. This will take around 1-2 hours. The boys took a nap and we finished this when they woke up.

Before letting them draw themselves, I gave a mini lecture about how to draw different parts of the face.

Then I gave the boys black acrylic paint to draw themselves.

All done! Colorful self-portraits.
