Sensory Play: Water Beads

I bought some water beads for Caleb to play with.

We soaked them in water.

They started to grow in just a few minutes!

Caleb inspected the beads “they’re bigger momma!” Wonderful observation, son!

We soaked them overnight and they grew into these huge balls that had the feel and texture of Jello.

I let Caleb play with them and he started to squeeze them. I joined in the squeezing fun!

What a great stress reliever.

He even wanted to swim in it! Thanks for the idea, Caleb! I will put it in the tub next time!

Here’s what’s left of the water beads after playtime.

Clothespin Counting Game

20131107-221035.jpg
I got this idea from one of the brilliant moms on Pinterest.
So easy to do and Caleb got to practice counting!
I drew two dinosaurs. Prepared clothespins and a dice. Caleb insisted on wearing his silly hat.
We each took turns rolling the dice and putting the corresponding number of clothespins on our dinosaurs to make them look like stegosaurus spikes.

Count the pins before pinning.

Adding the spikes.

Whoever gets the most “spikes” on their dinosaur wins the game! Caleb is counting his clothespins to see if he really won the game.

Wonderful practice for counting and comparing more or less.

Sharpied Grocery Bag

20131107-215313.jpg
These are all the materials that you need. You can use any old cloth grocery bag and different colored sharpies. Don’t forget to line the inside of the bag with a thick board so the sharpies won’t go through to the other side of the bag.
