Homeschool : Carpentry

My rice cooker conked out so we got a new one. It came in a box with some styrofoam to keep it in place. Here’s what we did with the styrofoam before we threw it away.

Carpentry work! This activity was fun and great for hand-eye coordination. I raided my husband’s tool box for the concrete nails – they weren’t too sharp (duller than a sharpened pencil) and were long enough for Caleb to hold.

The styrofoam was soft yet firm for the nails to be hammered into. When Caleb got tired hammering, he started pulling out the nails.

Fun with trash!

Calamansi Fun

This is an activity that Caleb likes to play while he’s eating.
Just fill a bowl with water and add Calamansi. The old Calamansi will float while the new ones sink to the bottom.

Caleb used tongs to move them to a different container. It’s a simple tong activity just made more fun with water 🙂

It’s wonderful practice to strengthen the same muscles needed to hold a pencil 🙂

Here Caleb used a different tong to make it more challenging.

Lunch was over really fast and that made Caleb a happy boy 🙂

Dinosaur Footprints

Make dinosaur footprints on play dough. This activity is good for comparing and using the words: same, different, bigger, and smaller 🙂 You can also do this using animal figures.
