Sorting Animals

A level up version of the sorting activity.

I love how Caleb could read the word ZOO (it’s one of our sight word) all by himself 🙂

He sorted the dinosaurs pretty fast.
The animals were trickier to sort (If you really think about it, all the animals could really be in the zoo).
Critical thinking test…

Caleb made animal sounds while sorting.
He would say to the animals, “You should be here.”
I guess he enjoyed pretending to be the zookeeper.
When he made a mistake, he would self-correct himself and say, “Oh sorry! This should be here.”
How did you become so smart?
Gotta love this kid 🙂

Bathroom Painting

Caleb loves to paint.
But sometimes, I think he is too neat.
So I encourage him to be a little messy…he is a boy after all! Lol! 😉

Messy doesn’t really have to be a pain.
Hate clean ups?
Paint in the bathroom/shower!
This way, it’s easier to clean up and your child can go wild painting the walls and in Caleb’s case — the bathroom floor too. 🙂

Fizzing Colors

Materials:

1. Baking Soda
2. Vinegar
3. Food coloring
4. Droppers (I used medicine/vitamin droppers)
5. Large tray
6. Bowls for the colored vinegar

Put baking soda on a tray. It’s really up to you how much you want to use.
In separate bowls, mix food coloring and vinegar.
Caleb wanted red and green only so that’s what we made.

Caleb put some colored vinegar onto the baking soda using the medicine droppers. This is a wonderful activity for using his fingers and he enjoyed all the fizzing action.

The mixture got pretty soggy after a while.
It had the texture of wet sand.
So, Caleb played with it. 🙂

When he was done, he packed away all the “sand” under the little bowl and gave me the tray to put away.
What a neat little boy 😉
