Scooping

Fresh coconut juice for lunch?
Use whats left over for a scooping activity!
If you don’t have coconuts, any kind of small bowl can be used.

Picture 221

I scraped what was left over from the coconut meat and filled one coconut with water. I used food coloring to color the water green (I let Caleb choose of course!). Then, Caleb used a small soup ladle to scoop the water from one coconut to the other.

Don’t forget to put the coconuts on a tray for easier clean up! There will be a lot of spills!

Face Painting

Picture 231

Caleb and I took turns painting on each other’s faces.
I used Snazaroo Face Painting kit for this. Be sure to do a skin test before using ๐Ÿ™‚ After a while, he wanted to do it on his own. So I let him paint over the face that I painted.

Here are pics of Caleb painting his own face for the first time.

Caleb tasting the paint.
Maybe he thought it would taste like candy…
Good thing it’s non-toxic.

Posing with mom.
Caleb painted my face and when he was done he said:
“Mommy look like BJ!(from Barney)” and laughed out loud. The sense of humor on this one…hahahaha! ๐Ÿ™‚

Pipe cleaners

Picture 211

This activity is simple. It is also a wonderful practice for fine motor skills! We’ve been doing this activity ever since Caleb was 10 months old ๐Ÿ™‚
This activity can be done earlier as long your child doesn’t put everything into their mouth.

Materials:
1. Pipe Cleaners
2. Empty plastic jar with holes drilled into the cover (had the hubby do the drilling of the holes)
3. clear tape to hold the cover in place (added this since Caleb tried to do a shortcut by opening the jar. haha!)

Caleb folded one pipe cleaner and said it’s a curvy line. I let him play with the pipe cleaners before letting him put them into the jar.

Shooting the pipe cleaners into the holes.

Picture 206

I guess he was feeling lazy and wanted to do a shortcut.

Giving me his melt your heart smile.
Picture 213

Group stuffing and smiling at me didn’t work out very well for him. So back to putting them in one by one.

You can also use sticks, straws, pasta noodles and other long materials for this activity. You are limited only by your imagination. Have fun!
